Sitting in her recliner wasn't easy this morning. After all she had slept in the last 4 nights inbetween crying over another broken romance. "Never Again I am sick of it, I do all the right things and everytime I get dumped! Me? How could he?" starring at the Cat who was now digging in her Potted Parlor Palm. "Stop Jasper!". With that Prudy got up and pulled out a frying pan and began to make herself breakfast. Prudy Miller lived in a village and worked at a Printing shop. She was already running late so she had to rush to get herself pulled together to make it to work ontime. Once at work no one even dared look her direction as they had already been gossiping about the big break up.
Among whisperers Prudy logged into her computer and began looking through her days emails.
"Hey, Beautiful" she heard from behind. Looking behind was the familiar face of Morris. "Hey Morris, what up?"
"I heard." he said putting a soft hand on her shoulder. "Prudy, he's not worthy of you." A tear trickled down Prudy's face. She put a hand up to Morris' and whispered "Thank you".
"Now on the other hand, it's good news for me. I need a date tonight? I am going to my Mom's engagement party and I really don't want to go stag you know I always have my relatives pushing everyone on my, how about it?
"Morris, no not today." Prudy said
"Sorry, Prudy not this time, I am not going to let you get in a funk. We've been best friends since Junior High and this time I am stepping in."
The stern look on Morris' face made Prudy knew this was it. Morris would actually come over and dress her himself if she refused and she did owe him big he'd been there everytime through the past 4 break ups and this was number 5.
"Okay, but I am driving your car Morris"
"Deal."
